Chris Minh Doky is a New York-based artist regarded among the masters of the upright bass. Doky carries on the distinct Danish tradition of the acoustic bass as a lead instrument. With musical roots deriving from his love of American East Coast grooves, and the lyric tradition of Scandinavia, Doky has developed a distinctive sound as well as the creation of a style that is uniquely his own. He is on the list of Top Ten Bassists in Reader’s Polls, which has earned him Artist of the Year awards, in addition to platinum-awarded sales. Parallel to leading his own band, Doky plays with some of today’s most significant jazz artists. An integral part of the Michael Brecker Quartet since 2001, he is also currently playing and touring with the Mike Stern Band. Over the years, Doky has released seven solo albums, including the highly praised Cinematique, and the most recent electronica-jazz album, The Nomad Diaries. Besides co-leading two recordings with his brother, he also appears on countless recordings as a sideman. With his great musical sense, Doky is increasingly in demand for soundtracks as a producer for jazz and pop artists, alike.

Chris Minh Doky released Minh on Blue Note in 1998— his first solo album in eight years. It met widespread acclaim from both critics and audiences, propelling Doky’s international solo career to a new level. Doky’s work on Minh was brought to the attention of Danish pop/rock icon, Sanne Salomonsen, who asked him to work with her. In 1999, Doky produced her hit album, In a New York Minute, that reached double platinum sales and earned a Danish Music Award nomination. On his most recent CD, The Nomad Diaries, Doky showcases the result of his long-time exploration into Electronica. Inspired by the works of artists like Massive Attack, Bjork, Nils Petter Molvaer, Talvin Singh and Ryuichi Sakamoto (with whom Doky has been playing for years, and who is also featured on the album), Doky draws on both his production and bass playing skills to bring listeners an experience like no other.

Rooted in Bossa Nova and Brazillian jazz, but with a sound all his own, multi Grammy-winning jazz musician Dori Caymmi has celebrated a career of prosperity and recognition. Following the path laid by his father and namesake, legendary Brazilian musician, Dorival Caymmi, Dori has created a style of music and a list of credits for which any musician would covet. Dori’s modern approach to a classic sound results in a stimulating blend of, Jazz, Pop, and Brazilian influences which confidently continues the musical tradition of the Caymmi Family.

Dori was born in 1943 in Rio de Janeiro to distinguished vocalist, Stella Maris. Studying music as early as 8, it was no surprise that Caymmi followed in his parents’ footsteps to success – ultimately going on to write, arrange, and perform with renowned musicians amongst the likes of Antonio Carlos Jobim, Quincy Jones, Dionne Warwick, Gilberto Gil, and Sarah Vaughan. Dori’s musical endeavors have been recorded on numerous major label recordings, provided the soundtrack for a number of plays, and appeared as the musical score for television shows and films.

With 11 solo albums to his credit, Dori Caymmi has secured his place as a staple in the world of Brazilian Jazz, recognized through 2 Latin Grammys and 7 Grammy nominations. Dori has performed his music at countless esteemed venues throughout Brazil, in the United States at theaters such as Carnegie Hall and the Hollywood Bowl, and in many of the large-scale European music events such as the Montreux Jazz Festival. No stranger to the television screen, Dori has made several television appearances in Brazil and beyond, even finding himself directing Branford Marsalis’ band on Jay Leno’s Tonight Show.

Dori’s efforts have been continually heralded, and in April 2010 Dori was honored with the historic medal -Comenda Tiradentes, the highest honor granted by the Legislature of Minas Gerais for his cultural contribution to the state. Immediately following, the Brazilian government bestowed Dori with the Ordem do Rio Branco, a medal celebrating his efforts to spread Brazilian music and culture around the world. The accolades have most recently continued with Dori’s latest album, Inner World, being nominated for two Latin Grammys under the categories of ‘Best Brazilian Song’ and ‘Best Brazilian MPB Album.’

With the blood of over 100 years of Brazilian musical history flowing through his veins, Dori Caymmi’s works and performances stand to represent the musical voice of Brazil. Experienced and dedicated, Caymmi continues to collaborate, produce and perform his music with the same passion that has marked his entire career.

He remains friends with the band and has appeared on several Toto-related projects over the past two decades.

In addition to his own personal success, Williams comes from a family of thriving entertainers—his father, John Williams, composed the scores for Star Wars, Jaws, E.T., and countless other monumental features, and his mother is Barbara Ruick, a celebrated musical actress.

Williams has recorded several solo albums, including the releases of Two Of Us, Smiles, and Tears, all of which feature Williams singing excellent cover versions of classic pop songs. This Fall marks Williams’ return to creating original pop/rock songs, reminiscent of Toto’s distinctive style. In fact, Williams co-wrote some of the new material with Toto members Steve Lukather, David Paich and Bobby Kimball. Williams also collaborates with top pop/rock producers, Jay Gruska and Richie Zito.

Mark Chan is a Singaporean composer, producer, singer, instrumentalist, TV personality, and painter. He is recognized as one of Singapore’s premier composers, particularly for his unique blend of Eastern and Western music styles. His musical career spans nearly two decades, popular for its blend of traditional, yet modern, classical, pop and avant-garde styles. Chan’s works extend into film scores, theatrical scores, TV shows, recorded albums, and compositions for various live performances. With such an extensive body of work and continued productivity, Mark Chan is arguably Singapore’s most diverse and prolific contemporary musician.

Trained for 9 years in classical Chinese bamboo flute, for 7 years as a western-style vocal tenor, and for various years with other instruments including the cello, erhu, pipa, guanzi, piano, and percussion, Chan was exposed to many different sounds and approaches to his art. These elements are present in his music, and it is the wealth of these varied experiences that have shaped his musical endeavors to be multi-faceted, and at times, groundbreaking.

Chan’s contribution to the development of music and theatre in Singapore and across Asia is internationally recognized— with his shows gaining numerous accolades domestically and abroad. He has produced albums and songs for some of Asia’s top pop stars, including Tracy Huang and Andy Lau. His recorded work includes seven solo albums released under various labels. Albums such as “China Blue” (BMG), “Traveling Under The Light of the Full Moon” (HoriPro), and “Nature Boy” (HoriPro), have showcased styles in pop/adult contemporary to world music and Asian healing.

“Traveling Under The Light Of The Full Moon” is enticingly lyrical, captivatingly melodic, subtly exotic in its fusion of diverse instruments, and spiritual in the lightest, truest sense. Don’t be misled by the fact that he sings almost exclusively in the English language on Travelling Under The Light Of The Full Moon— this man’s heart rests gently with the Ancients of his heritage, even as he is driven to create music for the whole world.
